A Quick Health Tip from Robert Cheeke

Robert Cheeke is a vegan. He is also a successful bodybuilder. He is currently working on a documentary, Vegan Brothers In Iron, about himself and two of his friends who will be competing in a bodybuilding competition. Here is a quick tip from him about healthy eating, specifically about the importance of organic food in the vegan diet.

Anyone who wants to be conscientious about the planet, the well being of animals, and their health should seriously consider adopting a vegan diet, and buy organic produce whenever possible.

He even needs a looped blowup cushion to sit on. It's really very funny, but not for him as they have become very painful. They are thrombosed external hemorrhoids, meaning they are outside the anus and they are ruptured, i.e. bleeding. There are a few ways of treating these hemorrhoids, including hemorrhoid banding, or using a cream. Ultimately, prevention is the best form of saving yourself the trouble, pain and embarrassment of hemorrhoids. Not usually a talkable topic, haemorrhoids, and I admit I didn't know much about them. The article I linked to above has a lot of information about hemorroids that helped me a lot in understanding what they are, and what my friend is going through.

You Can Be Overweight and Healthy

Many overweight people are discouraged and even despise talking about health related topics because they feel so unhealthy or embarrassed. The notion that if you are fat you are unhealthy needs to be quashed. So here it is: overweight people can be healthy! Believe it.

For example, an overweight person who power-walks three times a week and does a bit of light resistance training will greatly reduce health risks compared to an overweight person who doesn't exercise at all. So overweight people shouldn't be as easily discouraged as they are from exercising or even talking about health related issues.

If you are an overweight person who wants drop a few pounds, don't sweat it that you'll have to go it alone. Join a fitness class of like minded people in the same situation. If you are a young male, take up boxing as a hobby. If you're a middle aged woman, aerobics might be your thing.

Of course, anyone who is serious about losing weight would have to take an honest look at their diet. There are many diet tips available online or in dieting books at any bookstore. If you feel you need an extra helping hand in shedding the kilos, weight loss pills are one option you could consider.

In conclusion, if you are overweight and feel it's too hard to get fit and healthy; think again. Any exercise is better than none. Not only are you cutting down your chances of heart disease and other illness, you will feel energized and be able to get more out of every day.

In Sickness and in Health

Some people ask 'why all the fuss about being healthy? You're going to die eventually anyway'.

To these people I say:

"Why die before you need to? Why suffer in life, if you don't need to?"

If you are unhealthy, chances are you get sick often which is unpleasant. But worse than that, there is a good chance you will get one or more horrible illnesses, like diabetes, cancer or heart disease. Why lie in a bed suffering in pain for a few years with cancer before you die if by looking after yourself a bit better you can avoid it?

There are plenty of reasons to be healthy and few (none!) to neglect your health. So educate yourself, be enthusiastic and enjoy being healthy, and doing healthy things!
